Out of all the rooms in the house, the kids playroom is by far the most fun—that's literally its entire point.

With school getting ready to be back in session, we at Living Space Designs thought it would be great time to give you some fun kids playroom ideas they will love.

We understand back to school can be stressful for parents and children alike, so it’s important to create a space where the kids can relax and be kids when they get home from a day at school.

We also included a few ideas for those of you who need a study space for your children who are home schooling or for those who just need a designated homework spot.

Whatever reason you are updating your playroom, here are a few ideas to spark your creativity.

Setting Up The Playroom

The first thing to consider is if you want your playroom to have a theme or not. Having a theme is fun, but consider choosing a theme that can be timeless and that can grow with your kids. A few timeless theme ideas include pops of color, adventure, nautical, neutrals, or nature-inspired.

Kids Play Room

Next, you want to consider what furniture you are going to have in the playroom. You can incorporate a play table for craft time or family game night. You can have a cozy reading corner or set up a tent as a reading space in the playroom. Pick out comfortable seating areas. Whether you add some bean bags, play chairs, or a couch, think of what will be comfortable and can be used in many areas of the room. When choosing the furniture, consider the size and height of your space to make sure everything will fit without being overcrowded.

Finally, consider what entertainment is going to be in the playroom. This varies by age but is important to consider. If you have younger children, you may want to focus on toy areas and an area to watch movies. If you have older children who enjoy video games, consider setting up a fun space to play their video and computer games. You can also incorporate other games like ping-pong or pool tables.

No matter for what age you are creating a playroom, think of things your child enjoys and incorporate them into this space. Have fun with it, and even consider having your kids help you create the perfect playroom space.

Fun Playroom Ideas Your Kids Will Love

Now that we have talked about the basics of setting up the playroom, here are a few fun playroom ideas your kids will love!

Childs playroom bedroom

Want to keep the kids active on a rainy day? An indoor climbing wall is a great way to do so! Not only does it give your kids a place to burn off energy, but it has such a small footprint that you can fit it in nearly any home.

One surefire way to make sure your home has the coolest playroom on the block? Build an indoor slide! When it's too cold to go to the park during the winter, your kids will still be able to slide all day long.

Paint one of the walls or an area of a wall with chalkboard paint. This is great for allowing their creative juices to flow and even saves on using paper!

The best playrooms are the ones that have a bit of imagination behind them. Consider something a little more special, like a unique bookcase or fun bouncing chairs.

Back-to-School Homework Space Ideas

With school being back in session, it's time to think of a place for kids to do their homework.

Gone are the days of only doing homework at the kitchen table. Designate an area in the playroom for study time!

Consider buying a small desk for them to do their homework. There are many great options to choose from, and make sure the desk will be appropriate as your child continues to grow.

A study nook is a perfect way to knock out homework. Create a study nook near the window or in the corner of the playroom. This space can be comfy and the ideal place to get homework done.

No matter what back-to-school homework space you decide on, create a space where your kids will feel comfortable and have everything they need to get their homework done with as few distractions as possible.

Create the Perfect Playroom for Your Kids

There are so many ways to spruce up a space and make it the perfect playroom. Hopefully, these examples and tips were helpful and sparked the idea for you to try these playroom ideas in your own home. Whether you want to merge it with your child's bedroom, go over-the-top, or create a space that'll mature well and be a place the whole family can enjoy.
